Sarah J. Robbins, MD, MSc, FRCPC

Dr. Sarah J. Robbins, MD, MSc, FRCPC, is a gastroenterologist, a nutrition specialist and the founder of Well Sunday Health Corporation, an online education platform that offers cutting-edge nutrition information to improve people’s health and quality of life. At Well Sunday, Dr. Robbins leverages her expertise in gut health, nutrition, and lifestyle medicine to provide easy-to-digest, science-backed courses about a variety of gut health issues that help people achieve vibrant health.

Dr. Robbins is a clinical assistant professor at the University of British Columbia and has recently joined Aroga Lifestyle Medicine in Victoria to create a clinical practice focused on the role of nutrition and lifestyle medicine in gastrointestinal illness.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Masters of Science in Nutrition and Metabolism at the University of Alberta and completed her medical training and Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology residencies at the University of Calgary. Dr. Robbins obtained an additional clinical fellowship in Nutrition and Bariatric Medicine, served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta, and practiced gastroenterology in both Edmonton and Kelowna. Additionally, Dr. Robbins served as President of the Canadian Nutrition Society from 2015 to 2017 and is an active member of the Royal College Gastroenterology Examination Committee.

Stuart Phillips, PhD

Dr. Stuart Phillips is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and a member of the School of Medicine at McMaster University. He is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Skeletal Muscle Health. He is also the Director of the McMaster University Physical Activity Centre of Excellence. Dr. Phillips’ work centres on the interaction of exercise/physical activity and nutrition in skeletal muscle and body composition. Since 2018 and for five straight years, he has been named to Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers list for being in the top 1% of all cited researchers globally in cross-disciplinary research. Dr. Phillips has delivered over 350 public presentations, including more than 60 keynote talks, to academic institutions, local, national, and international audiences on five continents.

Dr. Manuel Durán, Ph.D., FACS

Dr. Manuel Durán is a distinguished surgeon and researcher with a Ph.D. in Medicine and Surgery from Complutense University of Madrid. Currently holding key positions as the Head of the Department of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery and Chief of the Endocrine Surgery Division at King Juan Carlos University Hospital in Móstoles, Madrid since January 2012, Dr. Durán’s career is marked by a commitment to both clinical practice and research.

In addition to his clinical leadership, Dr. Durán is an accomplished researcher who has made significant contributions to the field. He has been instrumental in advancing our understanding of various surgical disciplines, with a particular focus on topics related to obesity and diabetes.

His research efforts have not only enriched the academic community but have also translated into improved patient care and outcomes. Dr. Durán’s work underscores his dedication to enhancing both surgical practice and education, making him a respected figure in the medical community.

Simon Gabe, MD, MSc, BSc (Hons), MB, BS, FRCP

Dr Gabe is a consultant in gastroenterology & intestinal rehabilitation at St Mark’s Hospital and chair of the NHS National Reference Centre for Severe Intestinal Failure at St Mark’s. This is also an Integrated Care centre for intestinal failure and a recognised ESPEN Training Centre.  He has a wide clinical experience in dealing with complex nutritional problems, inflammatory bowel disease, fistula management, intestinal failure requiring enteral or parenteral support, home parenteral nutrition and consideration of intestinal transplantation.

Dr Gabe is a past President of BAPEN. He co-founded the National Adult Small Intestinal Transplant (NASIT) Forum in the UK and has been an active member of a Clinical Reference Group within NHS England responsible for the development of a clinical network in England for all patients with Intestinal Failure (HIFNET). He currently co-chairs the HPN Clinical Advice and Management Group for NHS England.

Dr Gabe has completed an MD in intestinal permeability and an MSc in Clinical Nutrition.  His academic and research interests include nutrition (including intestinal failure & enterocutaneous fistulae), home parenteral nutrition (survival & growth factors), intestinal transplantation and intestinal tissue engineering.

Uchu Meade, MRPharmS, Dip Clin Pharm, IPResc

Uchu started her Pharmacy career as a hospital trainee Pharmacist. After her band 6 and 7 rotational years she specialized in Gastroenterology at the Royal London Hospital.

In 2016 Uchu moved to St Mark’s Hospital, The National Bowel Hospital, as the Manger of the Pharmacy service. Under Uchu’s leadership the Pharmacy service provide to St Mark’s expanded to included teams of specialist Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians working within the following areas: Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Homecare, Hepatology, Prehabilitation, Intestinal Failure and Colorectal Surgery.

Over the last three years Uchu has focused on intestinal failure. She is an active member of the nutritional community nationally and internationally.

Uchu regularly speaks at national and international conferences, has published extensively within the clinical area. In April 2023 Uchu became the first consultant level pharmacist at St Mark’s Hospital.
